Nevada cannabis sales raised $159M for schools
In Nevada Cannabis is legal for adults 21+ & in 2019 the state announced they made more from the sale of Cannabis that year than what they made from Alcohol. So far this year they have brought in over $1Billion in sales and this has allowed for $159million be used for funding education in the state.
However as highlighted by Rebecca Garcia the president of the Parent Teacher Association of Nevada, the state is not topping up the education budget with this money as it's already included in their budget. While she is grateful this revenue was generated she says more funded is needed, she states Nevada is ranked at the bottom for state for per pupil funding while being at the top for class sizes.
