Ireland’s first Endometriosis patient to be granted ministerial licence to use Cannabis blazing a trail for others
Aimee Brown who suffers with a severely debilitating condition known as Endometriosis recently became Ireland’s first Endo patient to be granted a ministerial licence to use Cannabis to treat the chronic pain associated with her condition.
Aimee has long campaigned for safe and effective access to cannabis for patients suffering with chronic pain. She has also played a vital role in the endometriosis community helping women all over the world who reach out to her through her Instagram page EndowithAimee_blog .
Aimee is also fundraising for an upcoming surgery where she has to travel outside of Ireland to a specialist team in Romania please support her by making a donation or by sharing the fundraiser with friends and family. This surgery will allow for Aimee to feel better in her body with less pain and therefore more able to campaign for endometriosis patients and patients who need access to cannabis.
After tireless campaigning she now has her licence to legally use cannabis to treat her pain but Aimee has said her campaigning is not over yet as many more patients out there need safe and effective access to cannabis too. She continues to campaign and is a Ambassador of the patient advocacy group “Patients For Safe Access”.
In just the last two days Aimee has attended college and work, while also completing a number of interviews with local and national media. One of those interviews was on Cork’s 96fm where the regular host PJ Coogan was missing with southern correspondent for Virgin Media News, Paul Byrne standing in. Aimee done excellent in that interview, handling some really tough questions being put to her by the host.
I got to follow Aimee in the next segment and couldn’t help but call out the presenter for being quite stigmatising towards a patient for the medicine they use. I found it incredibly distasteful for the host to ask Aimee if she was addicted to Cannabis and as a commenter to Aimee pointed out had it been Vera Twomey on there speaking about her daughter Ava she would never of been asked that quiestion. The host tried to defend his questioning but i don’t feel he did a very good job of it.
On the plus side at least the public got to see the narrow mindedness of the prohibitionist mindset with some of the silly questions being asked which were handled very well by Aimee and I hope by myself too.
If you want to find all of Aimee’s interviews you will get them over on her linktree .
Thanks for reading & don’t forget to share to help in continuing to raise awareness of the harms of Cannabis Prohibition.
